Our Beliefs

We at Finch Baptist Church Believe:

*God is the one true God. He has always been and will always be. He is the creator of all things, everything that is was made by Him. He draws us to faith in Jesus Christ through the wooing of the Holy Spirit. He has brought salvation to humanity through Jesus Christ, His son. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whose so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

*Jesus Christ is the son of God and was with God in the beginning. He became flesh to be the Savior of the world.  He died on the cross, was buried, and rose on the third to day to bring us salvation. (Romans 5:8) One day, known only to the Father, Jesus will return to gather the dead in Christ and all believers to reign with Him on high with God our Father.

* The Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God, who is sent to convict our hearts of sin, to dwell in those who believe, and to empower the church.

* The Bible is the true, inerrant, and inspired word of God. It was given to instruct in salvation and in training in righteousness. We believe that it is the standard for which all Christian are to be held to.

*Creation was by God and of God. He created the Heavens and Earth and all that is in it. God gives life to His creation. Man was made in His image from the dust of the earth. Humans where made to have a relationship with God. (Genesis 1)

*Sin is being disobedient to God. Because of our sin nature, beginning with Adam and Eve, we have given into temptation and chosen to sin. By sin we are separated from God. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

*Salvation is a gift from God.  We receive salvation when we repent, (turn from our sin) and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Through Christ we are reconciled with God. (Romans 10:9)

*Baptism is the emerging under water, just as Christ was baptized. (Matthew 3:15-16) Baptism is a symbol of our covenant with God to walk in the way of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

*Communion - The Lord's Supper is a time of remembrance of the new covenant which came about with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." (1 Corinthians 11:25)

*Marriage is a God ordained union between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:24)
